Contract term: Fixed term to December 2023 

Hours per week: 32 hours (Mon-Thu) full-time

Salary range: USD $50,000 – $70,000* + Benefits 

*We are in the midst of a compensation review, putting in place our first globally standardized job tier/pay scale. This range may be subject to change as a result of that process.

About Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030): 

EM2030 is a collaboration of national, regional, and global leaders from feminist networks, civil society, international development and the private sector. We connect data and evidence with advocacy and action on gender equality, to transform the lives of women and girls and realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

It is more than 25 years since 189 countries committed to the Beijing Platform for Action by advancing women’s rights. And we have less than 10 years until the 2030 deadline for achieving the SDGs and their promise of gender equality. 

But Equal Measures 2030’s SDG Gender Index shows that not a single country has yet achieved gender equality. 

Our Strategic Plan 2020-2025 is founded on the belief that data can expose gender inequality and injustice, motivate change, and drive accountability. From 2020 to 2025, working with women and girls and across feminist organizations and movements, Equal Measures 2030 will catalyse change through data-driven advocacy aimed at holding governments and policymakers accountable.

About this role: 

Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director (role is currently being recruited; in the interim period this role will report to the Executive Director), the EM2030 LAC Lead will work together with colleagues across the EM2030 Secretariat team, and with partners across LAC, to connect data and evidence with advocacy and action to advance gender equality. Working with EM2030 colleagues and partners to secure additional funding to support work in the LAC region beyond 2023 will be a key priority for the LAC Lead. 

The EM2030 LAC Lead will guide and drive our collective efforts across LAC, including in our current focus countries of Guatemala and Colombia (focus countries subject to change, depending on funding and strategy) and across the region, working closely with our LAC regional partner (CLADEM). In this role, you will link, liaise, and collaborate with colleagues from across the EM2030 team and partnership (including working closely with our national and regional partners in LAC, as well as with the EM2030 Leads for other regions). You will work closely with the Deputy Executive Director and the other Regional Leads to shape an overarching strategy for our focus country and region work and adapt this to the LAC context. 

You will take the lead in implementing key grant commitments (including grant management, grantmaking, advocacy, communications and learning and impact strategies) in LAC. Securing sustainable funding streams for the work in LAC region will be an especially high priority for this role. 

You will also be responsible for strengthening partnerships based on shared learning, collaboration, and results within the framework of the mission and objectives laid out in EM2030’s 2020-2025 strategic plan. The ability to build strategic, collaborative, and fluid relationships with our network of partners is key to the success of this role. 

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the gender equality context across different contexts in LAC (gained through extensive experience living and working in the region) and demonstrated experience leveraging data and research to support and strengthen advocacy and campaigns. They will have a deep understanding of the funding landscape for women’s rights advocacy work in the LAC region. They will be committed to and experienced in feminist and anti-racist approaches to partnership building and have extensive demonstrated experience building collaborative partnerships based on mutual respect, trust, and shared learning, especially partnerships with feminist organisations and movements across LAC.

What you’ll do: 

Reporting to and working closely with the Deputy Executive Director, the LAC Lead will work on the following: 

Business development and project design 

  • Work with the Head of Business Development, other team members, and our partners in the LAC region to identify funding opportunities from Trusts and Foundations, corporates, government and institutional donors in the LAC region 
  • Build a pipeline of prospective funders through donor research, identification, and cultivation of funding leads 
  • Develop high quality programming concepts and proposals that are in line with donor priorities 
  • Support on relationship management with some of our funders through effectively inputting into reporting and communications 
  • Attend networking events and conferences (in person and virtual) to build a network of contacts including amongst potential funders. 
  • Keep up to date with funding developments in the gender equality sector in LAC 

Partnership building, grantmaking, grant delivery, shared learning, and impact communications 

  • Play a key role in scoping and contributing to the early thinking about an overarching Partnerships & Learning vision for EM2030 in the focus regions and countries, working closely with colleagues in the Secretariat team and across the partnership. 
  • Provide effective oversight and delivery of existing grant-funded work in the LAC region, ensuring grant results are achieved in line with budgets and grant requirements. 
  • Lead grantmaking with LAC region partners, in line with feminist and trust-based principles. 
  • Work closely with the Senior Data Capacity Lead and other team members to encourage learning and capacity sharing and to offer technical support (including on advocacy, data, research, data communications, and organisational learning including sharing fundraising/business development opportunities) to LAC region partners, including providing guidance and support in the use of participatory monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning tools 
  • Work closely with the team (including the Evaluation, Learning & Impact Lead and the Deputy Executive Director) to support the identification and implementation of context-relevant processes to document the impact and learnings from national and regional partner advocacy 
  • Work with the team and partners to understand, articulate, communicate, and learn from the impact of our work and collective effort, including spotting opportunities for partners to share stories about their work and working with Communications colleagues and partners to gather content (stories, photos, videos, articles, blogs, etc.) about our/partners’ work and impact 

Joint advocacy and communications 

  • Work in close collaboration across the EM2030 Secretariat and partnership (especially CLADEM, our regional partner in LAC, and our national partners across the region), to support, develop and implement advocacy and communication strategies to help push gender equality up the global and LAC region policy agendas 
  • Contribute to cross-regional advocacy and communications strategy, planning and execution, ensuring the perspective of LAC-based partners and regional opportunities are reflected in EM2030’s wider work 
  • Identify opportunities to profile the work, knowledge, and experience of LAC-based partners in cross-regional and global spaces 

Knowledge, skills, and/or experience you’ll need: 


  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience at a senior level in non-profit organisations working on gender equality and women's rights, based in LAC 
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of the gender equality context across different regions of LAC, gained through extensive experience living and working across the region 
  • Extensive demonstrated experience building collaborative partnerships based on mutual respect, trust and shared learning, especially partnerships with feminist organisations and movements across LAC. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to Feminist, Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppression values and principles, and to decolonising work in the International Development sector 
  • Strong and proven business development skills (especially with funders interested in the LAC region), including leading on grant proposal writing 
  • Strong representation and public speaking skills with team, partners, donors, advocacy targets, and media 
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data and research to support and strengthen advocacy and campaigns 
  • Demonstrated understanding of communications approaches and the power of storytelling, in order to effectively communicate the impact of advocacy and movement building work 
  • Clear vision and demonstrated experience in embedding participatory learning, evaluation, and communication of impact into the everyday work of the team and partners 
  • Excellent project and time management, financial stewardship, budgeting, reporting and variance analysis 
  • Able to manage multiple demands, meet deadlines and prioritise workload 
  • Able to work remotely effectively, including across timezones, whilst managing work/life balance. 
  • Ability to travel internationally 
  • Professional fluency in both written and spoken English and Spanish 


  • Fluency in French would be an asset
